I was recently in London for a couple of hours, on my way further afield. The area around Kings Cross has really been transformed since I last spent much time there; for a long time, it was really quite run down. It’s good to see so much investment in London since I left.
Some bold architectural choices have been made, and I think for the most part they’ve paid off. The massive building on King’s Boulevard that’s occupied largely by Google reminds me of the Barbican in a good way – a Brutalist sort of aesthetic that isn’t easy to pull off. The whole Pancras Square area pleases me, too.
The rain didn’t stop pouring down the whole time we were there.
